Relax and enjoy all of the water activities right outside this classic up-north cottage. Imagine sitting on the deck with your morning coffee watching the parade of visiting wildlife – ducks, geese, swans, loons, maybe even an otter.  Drop your fishing line right off the dock and reel in a huge bass.  Swim in the crystal clear water of the sandy-bottomed lakefront.  Boat, kayak or just enjoy the serene beauty of the lake as the ever-changing light of the day glistens off its surface.  On a cool Michigan evening, roast a few marshmallows and share a few stories around the campfire or curl up inside with a good book by the fireplace. 

Bring your own boat to explore the Upper Chain of Lakes, and dock it off the deep water dock or rent our 10-person pontoon boat.  It’s easy to launch your kayaks from the sandy beach and explore the waterfront in a more “up close and personal” way.  135 feet of lakefront with a sandy bottom.  Shallow water gradually deepening so it is perfect for families with young children for swimming.

This secluded cottage is located just a short two block walk from the restaurants and shops of Historic Central Lake. 

We provide bed linens and towels and a fully equipped kitchen, so you have less to worry about.  Fully furnished -  almost everything in the cottage is new --linens and towels, furniture, gas grill and kitchen equipment.
There is plenty of sleeping room - 2 bedrooms, a pull out sofa, a futon directly facing the lake, and a rustic loft with 2 twin beds for older children or teens. Click here for pictures. 

A selection of DVDs, puzzles, and a paperback "exchange" shelf - full of the kinds of books that are just the right escape for vacation reading.

This property is minutes from world renowned Torch Lake in Alden and a 10 minute drive to Lake Michigan (Barnes Park), located in Central Lake just north of up and coming Bellaire: home of Shorts Brewery! Nearby attractions include Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain (10 minutes), Charlevoix (30 minutes), Traverse City (40 minutes) and Boyne Mountain (30 minutes) not to mention many championship golf courses: The Chief, The Legend and A-ga-ming.

Your Hosts --

Burt and Kim Young - are natives of Pittsburgh, Pa., and have spend vacations in the area for the last several years.  Our daughter and her husband live here, and we have come to love the life in and around the Chain of Lakes.  Adding to our enjoyment of Northern Michigan, we now have our first grandchild, and are looking forward to being close to him as he grows.  We've always had a dream of our perfect home....  A simple cottage, somewhere on water, close enough to walk into town for breakfast and groceries, and perhaps a cocktail in the evening.  We knew our dream had come true the first time we saw our cottage on the banks of Intermediate Lake. We love its quiet charm and its rustic beauty.  It is such a simple joy to sit on the deck, or on the screened-in porch, and just watch the water and the constantly changing wildlife.  We love boating and kayakking, and we can do both, right outside our door.   It only got better and better as we realized that this perfect cottage was only a 2 1/2 block walk into the village of Central Lake, and that we would be within a 40 minute drive of the metropolitan area of Traverse City, with its airport, shopping, arts and theater.  We hope that you enjoy our cottage, and our little slice of heaven in Michigan, as much as we do.  Whatever brings you to us, Welcome, and enjoy!
